Ubisoft is restructuring! Why?

Ana sayfa / Games

Ubisoft has announced the establishment of a new subsidiary focused on the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six franchises. As part of this restructuring, the company will receive a $1.25 billion investment from Chinese tech giant Tencent.

The new subsidiary will bring together teams from Ubisoft’s Montreal, Quebec, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, Barcelona, and Sofia studios to create a more results-oriented and efficient work environment.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated that this move is a crucial step in the company’s restructuring process. In recent years, Ubisoft has faced financial difficulties and failed to achieve expected successes, leading to layoffs and cost-cutting measures.

The company has long been open to partnership discussions with Tencent, making this investment a key milestone in Ubisoft’s transformation strategy. However, the new subsidiary will not be limited to online or free-to-play projects.

Instead, single-player and story-driven game experiences will be prioritized. Established franchises such as Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry will continue to uphold their traditional narrative-driven gameplay.

Recently, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows reached 3 million players in a short time, seen as a hopeful sign for Ubisoft’s recovery. However, the company will need time to regain market confidence.
